During a flight from Havana to Moscow over the Atlantic, a six-year-old passenger began to complain of severe pain in her leg. Her parents tried to relieve the attack with a pill of the anesthetic pentalgin, but an hour later the girl became even worse, by all indications she began to have anaphylactic shock. Fortunately, Vasily Zhdanov, an anesthesiologist-resuscitator from Kemerovo, and Yulia, a gynecologist from Chelyabinsk, were flying in the cabin, and they helped the girl. The crew had the necessary funds at their disposal.
“Peripheral vein catheterization, IV adrenaline, 0.9% NaCl infusion, IV prednisolone. After 10 minutes from the start of treatment - relief of shortness of breath, improvement of health. After 15 minutes - a clear consciousness, no shortness of breath, the rash turned pale, the heart rate dropped, the child fell asleep”, - Vasily wrote in his blog.
While Yulia promptly gave him the necessary medications, his wife helped insert the catheter into the peripheral vein of the girl.
“It was more important than all of Cuba”, - Vasily Zhdanov admitted.
