Media reported on self-immolation of a person in the center of Minsk

On Independence Square in the center of Minsk, a man allegedly set himself on fire.

Interfax reports about the incident with reference to the Belarusian media. A video and photo of the incident appeared on social networks. According to the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Olga Chemodanova, the victim was taken by an ambulance. There are no details about his condition yet.

“The Ministry of Health of Belarus noted that the victim on the Independence Square is unconscious”, - the newspaper notes.

According to the Ministry of Health, the victim was diagnosed with burns of more than 50% of the body surface. The victim was taken to the republican burn center.

An investigative and operational group is working at the site of the emergency.

Earlier, Russian media reported on the self-immolation of journalist Irina Slavina. Slavina set herself on fire at the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Nizhny Novgorod on October 2, she could not be saved. She blamed the Russian Federation for her death. The family believes that the security forces, who have repeatedly persecuted her for her views, brought her to suicide. However, a criminal case on bringing Slavina to suicide has not yet been initiated.
