Russian spendings abroad fell by $ 27 billion

According to experts, in the summer of 2020, the number of Russians traveling in all international destinations fell - in general, the tourist flow decreased by 80%. This is due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, during the New Year holidays, the number of Russian tourists in the Maldives and Tanzania reached the indicators of Egypt and turned out to be twice as high as in Cuba.

It should be noted that part of the Russians last year preferred local resorts to foreign ones. 53% of those who vacationed abroad in the summer of 2019 traveled to Russia in 2020. In winter, the same figure was 28%. Thanks to this, domestic tourism has managed without losses, analysts at SberIndex believe.

At the same time, Rosturizm believes that the Russian tourism sector in 2020 lost 600 billion rubles, since foreigners were unable to enter the country due to restrictions on coronavirus.
