The preliminary cause of the crash of the Indonesian "Boeing" named

The Wall Street Journal reports. The authors of the publication refer to sources familiar with the investigation of the plane crash.

Sources of the publication indicate that, according to the flight recorder, the pilots were faced with a failure of the autothrottle of one of the two engines, which controls some of the flight parameters.

According to the instructions, the pilots had to turn off the system. But the crew tried to restore its work on its own. This could cause an imbalance in engine loads and complicate aircraft control.

Boeing 737-500 aircraft can fly with one engine running. In addition, pilots are taught how to deal with such situations.

Until this moment, the reasons for the crash of the Boeing in the Java Sea were not mentioned. It was only known that during takeoff, the airliner passed through a thunderstorm front and got into a zone of strong turbulence, but did not give alarm signals.

It's worth reminding that the tragedy happened on January 9, when the plane took off from the Indonesian capital - Jakarta - to Pontianak, located on the island of Kalimantan. The disaster killed 62 people.
