Painting by Russian director Andrey Konchalovsky "Dear comrades!" entered the list of 93 films nominated for the world's main film award "Oscar" in the category "Foreign feature film". A shortlist of 15 entries that will continue to compete for the award will be announced on 9 February.

According to the Oscars website, a total of 93 countries submitted applications for participation in the Foreign Feature Film category. Recall that in this category, films with a duration of 40 minutes or more are allowed, which were filmed outside the United States, and more than half of the dialogues in them must be not in English. Sudan, Suriname and Lesotho were the first to apply. The ceremony of presenting the golden statuettes will take place on April 25.

Film "Dear Comrades!" tells about the tragic events of June 1-3, 1962 in Novocherkassk, when during the strike of workers both its participants and random townspeople were shot.

The picture managed to become the owner of the Venice Film Festival prize. Konchalovsky received the Golden Eagle for directing.

The film was nominated for the Oscar on November 13 last year.
