The government is not discussing the introduction of food ration cards as a measure of social support for Russians, said Boris Belyakov, a press secretary for the Prime Minister.

He explained to Interfax that today a number of mechanisms and programs of social support for certain categories of citizens are operating in Russia, and most of these measures are of a financial nature.

He also stressed that when organizing assistance to citizens in need, priority is given to precisely those enterprises that allow in the long term to bring Russian families out of poverty - this is a social contract, and retraining programs, and assistance in finding a job.

We will remind that earlier it was reported about the proposal of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to help citizens with money for food. The deputy head of the department, Viktor Yevtukhov, sent a report to the government, which listed the measures developed by the ministry aimed at providing priority support to the needy segments of the population. That is, according to the authors' intention, every month the Russians should receive money so that they can buy domestic products.

Last fall, the head of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO UN) for communication with the Russian Federation, Oleg Kobyakov, expressed the opinion that food coupons could provide food to poor families. Yulia Ogloblina, head of the Public Chamber's Commission for the Development of Agriculture, spoke about the introduction of cards and the organization of social catering.
