TASS: Moscow authorities will not extend contract with artistic director of the Gogol Center Serebrennikov

This is reported by TASS, citing its own informed source. Kirill Serebrennikov confirmed that the contract would indeed expire on the 20th of February.

Let us remind you that on February 2, the Gogol Center celebrated its eight years anniversary. Kirill Serebrennikov has been heading the theater since 2012.

Serebrennikov's plans were to release a number of projects that are associated not only with theater, but also with other types of contemporary art.

Earlier, director Vladimir Mirzoev wondered if Gogol Center would not be left without an artistic director because of its “tarnished reputation” in connection with the Seventh Studio's criminal case. Recall that Kirill Serebrennikov was found guilty of embezzlement and received a three-year suspended sentence.
