A lawyer - about Russian justice: "Why to defend people if they will be jailed anyway?!"

“Looking at what is happening from the nest, working as a lawyer under 228 (Article No. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - “Illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, manufacture, processing of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues”- ed.), Reading the posts of Arseny Levinson's colleagues, Dmitry Dzhulay, etc., I gradually come to the conclusion that Russian jurisprudence related to human rights is already an almost completely empty phrase, a dry theory (while the tree of life in paddy wagons, temporary detention facilities and pre-trial detention centers is magnificently green).

The meaning has almost completely disappeared, for example, to refer not only to procedural violations during the preliminary investigation, but also to the Constitution, the position of the Supreme Court, and in general to ordinary laws. Nobody AT ALL pays attention to it. There is no need to speak at all about the explanations of the higher courts. The trick about "the law is not precedent in Russia" has long been more than a meme. The practice of what the state does with its citizens is so far from what is prescribed by law that reports from rallies, for example, evoke the feeling of a terrible joke. And the meaning, again, to be a lawyer for national affairs - slips away, slips away, slips away... Why defend, if they are convicted and imprisoned anyway? What words can you use to comfort your terrified relatives? Why take money for a losing business? Go to arbitration, in the end, you will definitely not die of hunger.

And yes, there is another unpleasant threat in stating this fact. After all, a person does something, makes efforts, as a rule, when he sees the meaning in it. Dopamine is that damn thing or something else, a carrot in front of a donkey's nose - but without seeing the point, it is very difficult to find the strength to do something, especially for a long time. No, this is in no way an allusion on my part to renounce what some lawyers consider to be a matter of honor or my duty to conscience. But with all the desire, at some point the senselessness of the fight against state millers may outweigh the fuse to fight against monsters, and this will be the end..."
