According to RBC, citing sources close to the Moscow administration, Popov will be elected in a single-mandate constituency in the west of the capital. Probably, we are talking about the 197th district (Kuntsevo), of which Vyacheslav Lysakov is now a deputy, the interlocutors add.
Popov himself told RBC that they were negotiating with him about a possible nomination. He called the proposal "interesting" and assured that he was ready to discuss it.
According to the sources of the publication, the heads of United Russia do not want to see Lysakov in the State Duma because of his publications on the Telegram channel DUMAem, in which he criticized party members and the actions of the Kremlin.
In the fall of 2020, Lysakov was relieved of his post as First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Legislation and State Construction.
According to the leader of the Duma faction Sergey Neverov, "the position of first deputy head of one of the key committees of the Duma does not allow such inappropriate and incorrect statements that Lysakov makes". But when he becomes "a simple deputy, he will be able to freely express his opinion, since it" will no longer be associated with the position of the committee or faction".
Yevgeny Popov together with his wife, we note, occupy high places in the ranking of the richest propagandists. Their annual income for two was 25.7 million rubles.
