On February 3, WHO experts arrived at the BSL-4 laboratory at the Wuhan Institute, from which, presumably, the coronavirus could have escaped.
"For our mission, of course, it was important - to visit such an institution, communicate with colleagues, see how everything is organized there. Well organized. I don’t know who criticized them, the laboratory was built beyond praise. It is very difficult for me to imagine that something could have leaked from there somewhere", - RIA Novosti quotes Dedkov as saying.
The expert pointed out that there are no facts or prerequisites that the leak could have occurred in the laboratory. According to him, the employees of the institute are very qualified specialists who have been studying various viruses, including coronaviruses, for many years.
Note that the delegation also visited the Wuhan market, where the first infected with covid worked. Dedkov also noted that there is no evidence that the virus "came out" from there, but it is possible to assume its spread from there.
"I'm not very familiar with the sanitary rules of China, but looking at this, extrapolating to our legislation, of course, the market is very far from perfect ... It is not a fact that it happened there, there is no evidence that it was there that the virus occurred, maybe in the virus appeared elsewhere, but hypothetically, there are all conditions for the spread of the virus", - he noted, adding that such a conclusion can be made even though today the market is far from the state it was in at the beginning of the pandemic, since it is now closed and demolition is taking place on its territory.
“Anything” could happen in this “small, crowded” market, the expert said.
"All conditions for the spread of any infection are when sanitary standards are not observed. Whether it led or not, we do not know if it looks like that, which could very well be. There are all the conditions for the infection to spread there", - said Vladimir Dedkov.
We will remind that now in China there is a group of WHO experts, clarifying the origin of covid.
It's worth reminding that in 2018, a breakthrough study by young Wuhan scientists was discussed, in particular, about the work in which employees of the Institute of Virology in Wuhan studied the immune mechanisms of bats, which allow them to be carriers of viruses for a long time, but not to get sick themselves. In April 2018, an article by 35-year-old Wuhan scientist Zhou Peng was published on the website of the scientific journal Nature, which spoke about the results of studies in which the coronavirus was detected in the body of bats. Note that we are talking about discovery, not creation. In the research results, the coronavirus was called the causative agent of a deadly epidemic - but not pneumonia in humans, but diarrhea in piglets.
