Turkey will try to copy Russian S-400

The Turkish military announced plans to copy the Russian anti-aircraft missile systems (AAMS) S-400 "Triumph" in order to independently produce air defense systems after the Russian military refused to transfer the technology for the production of air defense systems to the Turkish side.

Information about Turkey's plans to copy the S-400 for the sake of producing its own weapons appeared after Turkey failed to agree with Russia on the transfer of technology for the purchased weapons.

Earlier it became known that Turkey entered into a contract with Russia for the supply of the latest air defense systems, which caused discontent from the United States and led to the introduction of American sanctions against Turkey related to the supply of American F-35 fighters. Then the Turkish military held negotiations on the supply of the second batch of S-400, indicating the transfer of both equipment and industrial technologies to it as a condition. However, in response to the last offer, the seller refused.

“Turkish observers offer Turkey to independently create its own air defense systems based on the Russian S-400 Triumph air defense systems”, - the avia.pro newspaper reported.

There have already been such precedents in history: for example, Turkey tried to copy Chinese technologies, after which Beijing completely stopped official cooperation with Turkey in the military sphere.

Experts note that in the case of Russian air defense systems, such a probability is provided: in the event of interference in the operation of equipment, it will lose its combat qualities irrevocably. However, this does not prevent buyers from donating one of the weapons they bought in Russia for the sake of copying new technologies.
