Alexey Agranovich appointed artistic director of the Gogol Center

Director and actor Alexey Agranovich on February 26 will take over as the artistic director of the Moscow Gogol Center.

This was reported in the Moscow Department of Culture, citing its own appointment order.

Agranovich, however, told Interfax that he hopes that the contract with him will be signed as soon as possible.

Agranovich informed the "Podyem" newspaper that he is not making long-term plans yet.

"I really hope that everything will be fine. But our planning horizon lately is as follows: we don't plan more days ahead. I can’t rule out anything, force majeure, anything”, - said the director.

Today, the former head of the Gogol Center, Kirill Serebrennikov, said goodbye to the troupe. He wrote that the Gogol Center as a theater and how the idea continues to live. Serebrennikov's employment contract ends on February 25. He headed the "Gogol Center" since 2012, according to the telegram channel of the "Podyom" publication , he has already received offers to work in several theaters in European countries.

It's worth reminding that 51-year-old Kirill Serebrennikov is the author of many theatrical performances and scripts for films and TV series. In the circles of cultural figures in Russia and abroad, he is considered "an iconic figure of the Russian theater.

In the summer of 2020, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow sentenced Kirill Serebrennikov to three years probation, ordering to recover from him, as well as from Yuri Itin and Alexey Malobrodsky who participated in his projects, a total of 129 million rubles in the case of embezzlement in the Seventh Studio.
