Near Japan, a submarine and a merchant ship collided, a military submarine was damaged, and a civilian ship remained unharmed.

Japanese media reported that on Monday morning, February 8, near the Japanese island of Shikoku, a large non-nuclear submarine SS 501 Soryu of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, the submarine, surfacing to periscope depth, collided with the commercial bulk carrier Ocean Artemis, sailing under the Hong Kong flag.

At the same time, the submarine received damage to its light hull, retractable fencing and horizontal rudders. The retractable radio mast also failed, which did not allow the crew to report the incident to the command for more than three hours. In addition, three members of the boat's crew were hospitalized with injuries. She arrived at the port of Kochi to investigate the incident.

But neither the cargo ship nor its crew were practically injured - the ship arrived at the Japanese port of Kobe to conduct an examination and investigation of the incident.
