Painting by director Andrei Konchalovsky "Dear comrades!" was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Feature Film. On April 25, the ceremony of presenting the golden statuette will take place.

15 films will compete for the most important world film award. In addition to Konchalovsky's film, among them are pictures from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Iran, Cote d'Ivoire, Mexico, Norway, Romania, Taiwan and Tunisia.

It;s worth reminding that Konchalovsky's film on January 29 was included in the so-called Oscar long-list. All in all, works from 93 countries applied for the award.

Film "Dear Comrades!" talks about the tragic events of June 1-3, 1962 in Novocherkassk, Rostov region, when during a workers' strike its participants and random townspeople were shot.

The picture managed to become the owner of the Venice Film Festival prize. Konchalovsky received the Golden Eagle for directing.

The film was nominated for the Oscar on November 13 last year.
