The Kremlin is upset about the "leaks" of the details of the conversation between Putin and the editors-in-chief

"To our regret, some of the participants in the meeting did not hesitate to share the results of the conversation, in Russian speaking, they simply leaked some part of the conversation to my colleagues. We are sorry in this regard. The press was on the basis of off the record, without citation", - said the president's press secretary.

He also added that such a mode of the meeting was chosen on purpose in order to "deal with issues that remained unclear in an extremely frank atmosphere".

He recalled that the last meetings with the chief editors were precisely closed, in order to give an opportunity to express calmly their point of view and discuss the most pressing issues. And the leakage of information "does not strengthen our atmosphere of trust".

"I appeal to those who did this, and we hope that agreements on the modes of such talks will be implemented in the future", - said Peskov.

He specified that the conversation was traditionally long, and 35 journalists took part in it, which were called, the press secretary of the head of state, not because of protests.

"No, of course, there is no connection with illegal actions here. There was no meeting for a whole year. Last year, this meeting did not take place, so they have long been looking for a suitable moment when the meeting should be held at least in such an unconventional mode, in the format of videoconferencing (videoconferencing)", - noted Peskov and added that the abundance of events that happened after the last meeting became “good palette "for discussion.

He pointed out that there was no agenda, and such meetings are held precisely so that the heads of the media can deal with issues that seem unclear to them.

The editor-in-chief of Russia Today, Margarita Simonyan, who took part in the event, commented on her telegram channel "plums" to the press: "Allow a pig at table to sit and it'll put on the table its feet. That's all I have to say about the leaks from our yesterday's conversations with the Chief".

Why the word "chief" is written with a capital letter, Simonyan did not specify.
