President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, speaking at the All-Belarusian People's Assembly in Minsk, publicly stated that there were no political prisoners in the republic.

The All-Belarusian People's Assembly (VNS) was held in Minsk on February 11-12. 2,700 people took part in it. Among them were about 2,400 delegates from all regions of the republic and 300 guests, including representatives of foreign states.

“One of or one of the speakers here said that a political amnesty should be carried out... If this person gets the criminal code, our other laws and shows me, maybe you have at least one political article in the criminal code and say that on the basis of this political article someone is convicted, we will think what decisions to make. We did not have and do not have any political prisoners”, - RIA Novosti quotes Lukashenko as saying.

According to Lukashenko's plans, the ANC should become a constitutional body that will stabilize the situation in the country during the transition period. Lukashenko announced a number of reforms, including plans to redistribute the powers of the country's authorities.

By the end of this year, he promised to submit a draft of the country's new constitution. It is to be adopted in a referendum in early 2022.

Changes in the country began after a series of mass protests by residents dissatisfied with the results of the presidential elections, where Lukashenko won for the 6th time in a row. Observers announced numerous falsifications in favor of the head of state, and also pointed to the numerous arrests of political opponents of the president. Residents demanded a new fair election, an end to police terror and the release of all political prisoners in the country.
