Scientists continue to study COVID-19, including its relationship to the human blood type. The subject of the research is, among other things, the relationship between blood groups and the severity of the course of the disease, said Anna Kulinkovich, general practitioner of the European Medical Center.

"Among the sick, the least of all are people with blood group I. Even if the absolute number of cases is impressive, relative to the total number of carriers of group I in the population, it remains low. But more often and more severely than others people with II and IV blood groups are ill", - the expert shared with the Prime agency.

At the same time, says Anna Kulinkovich, patients who are carriers of the IV blood group are the most difficult to cope with coronavirus. She recalled a study conducted by Chinese colleagues, according to which, among the deceased patients, there were most carriers of the II blood group.

It is noteworthy that earlier scientists argued the opposite: it was the owners of the first blood group, according to the results of the studies, were the most immune to COVID-19. At least that's what the Californian experts said. According to their findings, people with the first group

"At the same time, it should be borne in mind that in different countries the figures showing the relationship between the disease and the blood group differ. So other features of the body, which are still being established, can play a role”, - the doctor stated.

It's worth reminding that scientists at Queen Mary University of London found that mortality from covid was higher in people of Asian origin. They conducted a study that showed that people of Asian descent were 1.49 times more likely to die than those with fair skin color, and 1.3 times more likely to die in blacks.
