If there is any work... the Russians are already ready for a change of places and for the special-shift work in the North

Sociologists have found that the demand for rotational work among Russians continuing to grow poorer is growing.

Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture asked to let migrants into Russia for seasonal work in the field, according to representatives of the department, local residents do not want to harvest even for an increased fee. However, in addition to pickers, the regions also need “blue collars” who agree to work on a rotational basis. ANCOR survey data showed that almost half of the workers surveyed were ready to relocate.

The survey was conducted this winter, 1953 people took part in it - men and women from 18 to 65 years old, representatives of blue-collar occupations. The study is aimed at assessing the willingness of candidates to work on a temporary basis outside the region of their permanent residence (the so-called shift).

46.4% of the surveyed respondents this year are ready to go to another region to work on a rotational basis. Last year, a similar survey showed that only 27% of blue-collar workers were ready for this kind of work.

“According to Rosstat, in mid-2020, the level of real incomes of the population fell by 8%, and this figure is comparable to the crisis of 1999”, - says Irina Avdonina, director of Right Force ANCOR. “The workers began to look more closely at the proposals of employers, fearing to lose money, and to perceive more favorably the vacancies associated with the shift and relocation”.

Those who stay in their region are kept at home by unwillingness to move (47%) and having a family (39%). Potential dishonesty of the employer scares away only 7% of workers, less than 1% refuse to work on a rotational basis due to unfavorable living conditions.

How to lure a shift worker

The survey data show that the most weighty argument in favor of shift work is the size of wages, it is important for 92% of respondents. 70% noted that the availability of housing is important, 42% - official employment. 21% of respondents consider free food to be an advantage, 15% - paying for the road. About 5% of the surveyed workers consider premiums for the harmfulness / hardness of work to be important, the payment for inter-shift leave - 3%, the presence of the Internet, payment for communications and work clothes - about 1%.

The preferred work schedule is a month after a month, 58% of the surveyed workers are ready to agree to it. 37% would prefer to work 15 in 15 days, 17% of respondents are ready for a long shift with a schedule of 2 months of work / month off.

Most of the respondents (17.6%) are ready to work on a rotational basis for a salary of 81 to 90 thousand rubles after all deductions. 15.8% are counting on income from 101 to 120 thousand rubles, 14% agree on 51-60 thousand rubles. Only about 6% of respondents agreed to earn less than 50 thousand. The preferred salary payment model is 2 times a month. It would be more convenient to receive money in this way for 76% of respondents.

How to find shift workers

87% of respondents admitted that they are looking for a job on the Internet, on job portals, 28% - through friends. Only 2% of the surveyed workers are looking for jobs in groups for shift workers on social networks.

“Despite the fact that the majority of the surveyed respondents are looking for work on the Internet, it is not worth spending the largest part of the budget on this tool”, - warns Irina Avdonina, - The recruitment strategy should be built taking into account the conversion of responses to a vacancy into employment. Up to 50% of conversion can be expected from searching through acquaintances, about 20-25% - from specialized communities. In practice, websites and applications that work give significantly less conversion".
