Investigative Committee identified the militants involved in the attack on the convoy of the Perm riot police in Chechnya

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that "as part of the investigation, evidence was obtained of the involvement of three persons in the commission of this crime". A criminal case was initiated against these three, as well as unidentified persons, under the article on encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer.

According to the investigation, on March 29, 2000, near the Chechen village of Dzhani-Vedeno, these persons, as well as other members of illegal armed groups (at least 200 people), infringed on the lives of officers of the Perm Region Main Internal Affairs Directorate and servicemen of the commandant's office of the security zone of the Vedeno District of Chechnya. Law enforcers moved in a convoy to the place of a special operation to restore constitutional order on the territory of the republic.

The attack lasted for six hours. During this time, gang members were able to kill 33 law enforcement officers. Ten people were captured. A total of 102 law enforcement officers and servicemen received injuries of varying severity.

Now investigators are establishing the roles of the detainees in the crime. It is known that these persons have already been convicted earlier.
