"None of the 21 universities participating in the "5-100" project was included in the first hundred of such international institutional rankings of universities as ARWU, THE and QS. The best results were achieved at the level of subject rankings - at the end of 2020, eight universities entered the top 100 separate subject rankings of ARWU, THE and QS", - summed up the results of 2020 in the Accounts Chamber.
The joint venture points out that the program helped create a group of leading universities, as well as "to strengthen the scale and significance of university science". The report says that the implementation of the program set "new strategic development guidelines for Russian universities". The very participation in the project, analysts emphasize, required a restructuring of the processes and programs for the development of universities, a different management system and organization of the research and educational process based on world standards.
In total, 21 educational institutions took part in the project "5-100" to improve the competitiveness of Russian universities, including the Higher School of Economics, ITMO, MISiS, FEFU, Lobachek University and others. Competitiveness improvement programs were assessed on the example of three regional universities: Kazan Federal University, St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, and Nizhny Novgorod State University in the period 2016-2019.
Experts emphasize that at the end of 2019, the main indicators of the effectiveness of competitiveness programs of universities were not met.
