Brent crude oil price returns to pre-crisis level of $ 66 per barrel

The price of Brent crude for the first time in the last year exceeded $ 66 per barrel. Thus, the price for it in February returned to the same limits at which oil was sold before the coronavirus pandemic in January last year.

Oil grade price WTI rose 5.5% to $ 62.5 a barrel.

The price of oil jumped sharply against the background of a cold snap in those US states where oil is produced, as well as against the background of a gradual recovery in the global economy after the cautious lifting of coronavirus restrictions.

Earlier, Natalya Milchakova , deputy head of the Alpari information and analytical center, explained why the oil price is rising. According to her, this is due to the start of mass vaccination in the countries of the world and the gradual easing of coronavirus restrictions. At the same time, the expert does not expect an increase in oil prices above $ 65, believing that the level of $ 65-70 can only be reached if the pandemic ends.
