Gas transit to Kazakhstan suspended after an accident on a gas pipeline near Orenburg

The gas pipeline burst in the Ilek district of the Orenburg region. No one was injured as a result of the accident on the main line, but now the transit of gas to the territory of Kazakhstan is temporarily suspended.

The incident took place at about half past seven in the morning on February 23rd. Gas supply was restricted at the Soyuz gas trunkline. There, an explosion and fire occurred on the 108th kilometer of the gas pipeline. Gas continues to escape at the accident site. The situation was taken under control by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, according to a message on the agency's website.

The residents of the adjacent territories were supplied with gas from the cylinder of the Orenburg-Novopskov gas pipeline, the ministry added.
