On February 23-24, a tense situation developed on the roads of local, intermunicipal and regional significance in the Chelyabinsk region. Snow drifts on the highways caused congestion, and the Emergencies Ministry began receiving calls from citizens stuck in traffic jams.
"By the decrees of the heads of Varna, Nagaybak and Kartala municipal districts, emergency regimes have been introduced in connection with worsening weather conditions", - the ministry said.
106 people, including nine children, were evacuated on the Magnitogorsk-Chelyabinsk highway. The day before, more than 200 people were taken from the tracks and sent to temporary accommodation centers.
Currently, 118 units of snow removal equipment and 13 crews are involved on the roads.
In addition, there are five mobile heating stations in operation. An airmobile group of the Main Directorate and the Ural Training and Rescue Center of more than fifty people follows.
Work on the tracks in the region is still underway.
According to the data of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia for the region, in some areas of the region the wind gain reaches 25 meters per second. The temperature in some places is fixed to minus 40 degrees. Forecasters clarify that it snows at night in Chelyabinsk, and the wind speed is up to 19 meters per second, the temperature is up to minus 27 degrees.
