“Despite widespread condemnation from the international community and ongoing economic sanctions, Russia is committing malicious acts aimed at destabilizing the entire world, many of these actions are taking place in Europe... Russia continues to pose a threat to the existence of the United States and our European allies”, - Walters said in during the Air Force Association symposium.

The military also believes that the Russian Federation is allegedly trying to preserve the sphere of influence of the Soviet era and is using force to coerce neighboring countries, and also "resorts to unconventional tools, such as private military companies, trying to intimidate, weaken and divide the United States and its allies".

The general clarified that Russia and China "continue to militarize the Arctic", trying to create an economic foothold for regional influence.

Previously, Russia was already called in the Pentagon "a threat to all NATO allies", referring to the "destabilizing activities" of the Russian Federation. The US Department of Defense said that the threat from Moscow lies in "the desire to undermine security and stability around the world with its authoritarian approach." US President Joe Biden has already promised to make Russia "pay for everything." He assured that "made it clear to President Putin that the days when the United States will surrender in the face of aggressive Russian actions are over." Under "aggressive actions" Biden indicated "interference in our elections, cyber attacks, poisoning of our citizens".

Moscow has repeatedly noted the confrontational nature of Washington's ideas about great power rivalry. Russia proposed to abandon such a concept.

Let us recall that the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov pointed out that the current tension in relations between Moscow and Washington is even stronger than during the Soviet era.

"There has never been anything like this, not even in the sense of lack of trust, but in the sense of mutual hostility. Emotions are off the charts, and we will not see improvement for a long, long time", - Ryabkov emphasized.
