Transbaikal resident sentenced for high treason to eight years of strict regime

"Citizen of Russia Vasiliyev was convicted of collecting and transferring information constituting a state secret to foreign special services. He was sentenced to eight years' imprisonment with serving the sentence in a penal colony of strict regime", - the court said.

After serving the main sentence, Vasiliev's freedom will be limited for another year. The court session was held behind closed doors. The verdict came into force.

Earlier it was reported that 51-year-old Vasiliyev was arrested in 2019 in Transbaikalia and convoyed to Moscow.

Recall that at the end of January a resident of Pechory was convicted of treason.
