President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that his children will not lead the country after he leaves office. This happened at a meeting of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus, where the eldest son of Lukashenko was elected head.

The website of the President of Belarus says that at the meeting two candidates were proposed for the post of head of the committee - Alexander Lukashenko, who held this position since 1997, and his son Viktor Lukashenko, who has been the first vice-president of the NOC since 2019. However, the head of Belarus said that he did not plan to be elected for a new term and offered to make his son the head of the committee. “I promise that there will be no theft, corruption, misuse of money. And the attitude towards athletes and coaches will be the very best”, - he promised.

Alexander Lukashenko also stressed that he loves sports and will continue to deal with issues in this area. He believes that the son "will always tell his father at any time about this or that problem", - so you can benefit from the new appointment.

“And, most importantly, you hear a lot of talk: the transit of power, right now Lukashenko will at least transfer power to the elder, he will rule the country. I have often said that in our family this has never been discussed and cannot be discussed. Because not a single child of mine will be president in Belarus after me”, - the Belarusian president said later.

He added that if Viktor Lukashenko is appointed head of the NOC, he will be dismissed from the post of Assistant to the President for National Security "with all the ensuing consequences".

At the same time, Alexander Lukashenko was offered the post of honorary president of the NOC of Belarus. However, he refused. “There is no need to do this now”, - the head of the country said.

Note that the President of Belarus has three sons - 44-year-old Viktor, 40-year-old Dmitry and 16-year-old Nikolay.

It's worth reminding that after the presidential elections in Belarus in 2020, which Alexander Lukashenko won, protests were regularly held in the country. However, over the weekend, opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya announced “the loss of the streets” and suggested postponing the protests, possibly until spring. “At the moment it seems that we have lost”, - she said.
