"Nigerian" strain of covid not susceptible to vaccines found in Italy

As reported by ANSA, referring to the president of the Italian Society of Virologists, director of the microbiological laboratory Arnaldo Caruso, the "Nigerian" strain has been isolated in Italy for the first time. At the same time, there are no details about the features of this COVID-19 option yet.

Note that the number of infections is growing in Brescia, which was affected by the pandemic last year. Quarantine measures in the area are being tightened. Italy, we recall, has become one of the European countries most affected by the pandemic.

A strain from Nigeria became known late last year. The African Center for Disease Control and Prevention informed that the variant was identified during the study of samples from two patients in Osun state.

Meanwhile, the UK is looking for a patient who has contracted another new covid strain - "Brazilian".

The increase in the incidence of coronavirus in the world over the past week has grown for the first time since mid-January. Experts from the World Health Organization attribute this, first of all, to the spread of new strains that are more infectious.
