The ship climbed to an altitude of about 10 km, then vertically descended to the site and exploded a few minutes later. The tests were carried out in the area of the village of Boca Chica in the US state of Texas.
The launch had to be postponed earlier due to incorrect engine thrust settings, explained Elon Musk.
Note that by the time of the explosion, the broadcasts on the SpaceX channels had already ended, and the company announced a "successful landing".
- Starship SN10 has landed safe and sound! - Musk wrote on his Twitter.
He expressed the hope that in the future, the launches of his ships would still be successful. Musk said that the SpaceX team is doing a tremendous job, and one day the measure of success will be that Starship flights will become commonplace.
It's worth reminding that on February 3, the prototype of the Musk rover also traveled 10 km, descended to the site, but exploded during landing. Then the company said that the test goal was achieved, and the flight was called "magnificent". The same was the case with the first failed test test of Starship: the company declared success, announcing that the prototype had completed all the tasks assigned to it.
