Lukashenko tried on the role of "bicycle" dictator

5 марта 2021, 13:10
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko today, on March 5, during a conversation with employees of the motorcycle plant, said that he was a supporter of the development of cycling in the country.

And he immediately linked it with politics - since he does not force everyone to switch to bicycles, then there is no dictatorship in the country...

“If we had a real dictatorship, I would have banned driving around Minsk by car - only on bicycles. That would be great. But it’s impossible”, - BelTA news agency quoted Alexander Lukashenko as saying.

Alexander Lukashenko added that he is an "ardent supporter" of the development of bicycle production in the country and cycling, since this type of transport is available to everyone.

For seven months now, mass protests have continued in Belarus after the presidential elections in August 2020. A significant part of the Belarusian society did not recognize another victory of Alexander Lukashenko in these elections. He has led the country for almost 27 years. Protests are dispersed by security forces, thousands of people were arrested, hundreds were beaten, and several people were killed.

The leader of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya recently announced that, according to her information, Alexander Lukashenko will nevertheless leave the post of President of Belarus this spring. At the same time, Alexander Lukashenko himself dismissed his eldest son Viktor from the post of National Security Assistant and conferred on him the rank of Major General of the Reserve.
