The choice of the singer Manizha фы as the nominee for the Eurovision Song Contest from Russia with the song "Russian Woman" caused a storm of discussions on social networks. Starting from “Who is this? Why she?" to delight: "That's cool!".

By the way, today Manizha is giving a solo concert in Crocus City Hall, and there are quite a lot of free seats (with inexpensive prices starting from 1,500 rubles). This suggests that Manizha is not very popular in Russia. On the poster is a detailed idea of the singer as a feminist, who "calls on every woman to be bolder in relation to herself and her environment, who was one of the first to declare a difficult, but very important aspect of a modern woman - self-acceptance".

Science fiction writer Sergey Lukyanenko, on his Facebook page, was skeptical about the candidacy of the Russian organizing committee for the Eurovision Song Contest:

“Some irresponsible comrades are surprised that the singer Manizha will go to Eurovision from Russia with Ori Avni and Ori Kaplan's song "Russian Woman".

They think narrowly, you know!

"Hey, Russian women (Ha, ha)

Come on, vote for me (Hey, Hey) "(c) Manizha Khamraeva, Ori Ani, Ori Kaplan."

Film critic and head of the film club Maria Bezruk, who is distinguished by her courage and harsh judgments, wrote:

"What a meanness. Is it really so that in such a huge country there were no other singers than these three dubious performers? Dozens of musicians participate in the Voice show every year. Well, how is it so?!", - Maria is indignant.

But the director of the Moscow House of Photography Olga Sviblova does not hide her admiration:

"Manizha, you are cool and absolutely real. The songs are superb! Gordeeva's interview is superb! If suddenly, contemporary art and photography are interesting, I am always waiting in our museum for MAMM. We can stir up something. We did an exhibition with DOVE about real women, - offers Olga Sviblova to the singer on her Instagram page.

Singer Rita Dakota voted and held her fists for Manizha:

"Manizha! We all voted, were gunning for you and kept our fingers crossed!!! Hurray hurray hurray uraaaa".

Music producer Yevgeny Safronov described the decision of the organizing committee of the competition as "a very unexpected and indicative choice".

It seems that no one doubts the presence of the vocal abilities of the young singer. But many are alarmed by the fact that the non-Russian singer sings about Russian women. How so? Unwittingly, Manizha raises the topic of nationalism, which is sick in modern society. For some reason, we Russians can discuss Germans, Chinese - anyone, but a girl from Tajikistan, who calls herself in one song "not-Slavic", can not? It's no secret that Eurovision is in many ways a political competition. True, Sergey Shnurov several years ago, at his press conference at TASS, bluntly called Eurovision a "frivolous competition":

"Only in our country so much attention is paid to the Eurovision Song Contest, while in the West they know almost nothing about it. It feels like this is our competition".

The Eurovision 21 contest will begin on May 18 in Rotterdam.
