During the opening ceremony of the Palace of Independence in 2013, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that not a single ruble from the budget was spent on the residence. However, the filmmakers claim the opposite.
According to one of the employees of the administration of the Belarusian head, every month “tens of millions of dollars” are spent on the maintenance of a luxurious palace with an armory, a winter garden, a helipad and a whole collection of retro cars.
"At first, we planned to make a small review of Lukashenko's property and remind the Belarusians that all this stuff was acquired at our expense. However, in the process of preparing the materials, people who once had a fairly close relationship to the corrupt schemes of the illegal enrichment of the dictator's own family began to contact us", - says Stepan Putilo, one of the founders of the channel, who currently lives in Poland.
It should be reminded that as recently as March 2, the head of Belarus himself announced that the oppositionists who had left the republic were looking for a “Lukashenko’s palace” by analogy with the “Putin’s palace” found recently in Russia. He stressed that he did not have any palaces.
"Let them look, show. And then we will take some of the protestors by the hand and show them. They are already there raising drones, flying. This is how I observe it and think: “Listen, well, if you want to know something, you should contact me. We will show you any room", - said the President of Belarus.
Note that in November last year, the Belarusian authorities demanded that Poland extradite the founders of the Nexta telegram channels - Stepan Putilo and Roman Protasevich. Earlier, a court in Minsk recognized these channels and their logo as extremist. They are actively covering the protest actions of the residents of Belarus, which for more than three months, especially on weekends, have been demanding the resignation of the long-term leader of Belarus.
