The European Union agreed on new sanctions against Russia for violation of human rights

As reported by TASS, referring to an informed source in the delegation of one of the European countries in the Council of the EU, the permanent representatives preliminarily agreed on a "black list on violation of human rights", which included citizens of Russia, as well as China and Libya.

The diplomat said that this decision will be approved on March 22, at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the EU countries.

Another source in EU institutions told TASS that the new sanctions concern "violations of human rights in Crimea".

On March 10, it became known that the European Union was preparing a new package of anti-Russian sanctions.

Previously, restrictive measures were introduced against the head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov, the head of the Russian Guard Viktor Zolotov, the director of the Federal Penitentiary Service Alexander Kalashnikov. The first package of restrictive measures was adopted after the arrest of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, for whom the court on February 2 replaced the suspended sentence with a real one.

Earlier, the European Union also imposed sanctions against the deputy head of the presidential administration of Russia Sergey Kiriyenko and the head of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov, as well as two deputy defense ministers. These sanctions were imposed after the poisoning of Navalny.
