The death toll in Syria of Russian military personnel has reached 112 people. Such data on the human losses of Russia during a military special operation in Syria were published by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrey Krasov. However, in reality there may be more victims.

Russian troops, formed on a contract basis, entered civil war-torn Syria on September 30, 2015. During the counter-terrorist operation, according to the Ministry of Defense, 115 Russians were killed in the Arab republic. However, the State Duma announced other figures.

"In Syria, 112 Russian servicemen were killed", - Kommersant quotes Krasov's speech at a roundtable in the lower house of the Russian parliament.

The data on 112 Russians killed in Syria in 2018 were cited by the head of the Federation Council committee on defense and security, ex-commander-in-chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces Viktor Bondarev.

The maximum official casualties were recorded in 2018, when 63 casualties were reported. One of the latest announcements of the victims of the Syrian war was the death of Russian Major General Vyacheslav Gladkikh, who was in Syria as a military adviser. He died when a convoy was blown up in the Deir ez-Zor area. Sergeant Mikhail Milshin, injured in the explosion, later died in the Burdenko hospital.

Meanwhile, according to RBK, at least 120 Russians died during the special operation in Syria. In March 2020, a Russian contract soldier was killed in an accident on the mountainous section of the Al-Qadmus-Baniyas highway. In February of the same year, while carrying out a mission in Syria, four officers of the FSB Special Forces Center were killed: Captain Dmitry Minov, Lieutenant Vsevolod Trofimov, Major Ruslan Gimadiev, Major Bulat Akhmatyanov. Information about their deaths was confirmed by the Tatarstan embassy in Moscow.
