In connection with the threat of the spread of coronavirus at the Tokyo Olympics, additional restrictions will be introduced. In particular, the escort group of any head of state should be no more than 11 people, and ministers - no more than four. This is reported by Kyodo.

In addition, VIP guests will have to take a coronavirus test no earlier than 72 hours before flying to Japan, and also come for a test upon arrival in the country. Also, they will not be able to communicate with athletes and use any transport other than the allocated one.

It is assumed that employees of the Japanese government accompanying foreign delegations will monitor compliance with coronavirus restrictions.

The Tokyo Olympics will run from July 23 to August 8, 2021. Earlier it was reported that foreign fans will not be allowed to compete due to the spread of new strains of coronavirus. However, the Sankei newspaper reports that the occupancy rate of sports facilities may be limited by 50%. The final decision will be made in April.
