Crimean authorities announced a shortage of coronavirus vaccines

17 марта 2021, 15:59
The Ministry of Health of Crimea has suspended the publication of data on the supply of coronavirus vaccine to medical institutions of the republic due to constant changes in the incoming information.

According to the regional authorities, due to a shortage of vaccines, it is possible to postpone the appointment for vaccination.

“So far, unfortunately, today we do not have a clear schedule and the estimated quantity in this or that batch, which should be delivered to the territory of the republic in the near future. These numbers change every day”, - said Minister of Health Alexander Ostapenko.

According to Interfax, the minister apologized in advance to the residents of the peninsula for the possible postponement of the vaccination record. According to the Ministry of Health, if the deadlines are shifted, everyone who signed up for the vaccination will be warned in advance.

The information of the Ministry of Health about disruptions in the supply of vaccines was confirmed by the head of Crimea Sergey Aksenov. He agreed with the ministry's proposal to stop publishing forecasts about the arrival of new shipments of anti-coronavirus drugs, while suggesting "not to look for the culprit".

The situation with the vaccination campaign in Crimea is very tense. Every week, residents receive up to 300 complaints about problems with vaccination: having signed up for a vaccination in advance, people come to the clinic on the appointed day, but they do not receive the coveted dose of medicine, since there is no vaccine. During the COVID-19 pandemic, about 36 thousand people fell ill on the peninsula, more than a thousand cases died.

Complaints about the lack of vaccine are now coming from many parts of the country. In early March, even the Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory, Alexander Osipov, could not sign up for a vaccination against coronavirus infection by calling the hotline of the Ministry of Health, since the specialists did not have information about the date of receipt of the vaccine and about its batches. From this, the governor concluded that it is impossible to make an appointment and get vaccinated in the region, since there is no vaccine supply plan for March.

“Report to Trutnev, Golikova, Mishustin, who is responsible for this? If an order needs to be fulfilled, there must be some kind of assurance for the fulfillment of this order”, - Osipov was indignant.

Earlier it was reported that mass vaccination of the population in Russia began on January 18. Despite the fact that Russia was the first to register the coronavirus vaccine and is sending it out in large quantities around the world, the rate of vaccination in the country itself is disastrously low. Russians are sorely lacking in medicines. Complaints about vaccine shortages come from many parts of the country. While Israel has already vaccinated 80% of the population, Russia is not even among the thirty countries with the most effective rates of vaccination against COVID-19. At the same time, the indicators of "excess mortality" in the country in 2020 from causes allegedly not related to the coronavirus set record values.
