“It is with deep regret that I inform you that today we have lost our brave leader, President of the Republic of Tanzania John Pombe Magufuli”, - said Vice President Samia Hassan Suluhu.

Earlier, the leader of the Tanzanian opposition, Tundi Lisu, said that Magufuli was hospitalized in a Kenyan hospital in connection with the coronavirus. On the same day, the Nation newspaper, published in Kenya, wrote that "one of the leaders of African countries" was admitted to a hospital in Nairobi.

At the same time, on March 12, Prime Minister Kasim Madjaliva stated that the head of the republic "is in order and continues his work".
