US President Joseph Biden did not answer a journalist's question whether he would agree to talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin after a high-profile interview on ABC News, in which Biden called Putin a "killer."

Biden's statement about Putin caused a serious international scandal. After the words of the American president addressed to the Russian leader, the Russian Federation recalled its ambassador Anatoly Antonov from Washington "for consultations". In diplomatic language, this means an expression of extreme dissatisfaction with the actions of the United States.

The Kremlin called Biden's words about Putin "very bad". At the same time, Putin himself said that he was ready to talk to Biden personally , and "not to dive in absentia".

At a March 18 White House conference, a journalist recalled Putin's proposal and asked if Biden would agree to a telephone conversation with the Kremlin.

"The US President did not answer, turned away and left the hall", - RIA Novosti writes.

A number of experts expressed the opinion that after such a conflict, relations between Russia and the United States would finally come to an impasse. At the same time, the press secretary of the White House Jen Psaki noted that Biden does not intend to soften his rhetoric towards Russia.

“We will not sit and tolerate and look away when the Russian authorities interfere in our elections, when they assign awards to our soldiers - we are studying this - when they take harmful actions against our country. So the president will be straight. He will take action when necessary. And he will not soften words or hold back when these words need to be said”, - said Psaki.

Bilateral relations between Russia and the United States have especially worsened against the background of the recent scandals with the poisoning of opposition politician Alexei Navalny and accusations against the Russian Federation about possible Russian interference in the course of the presidential elections in the United States.
