Bloomberg reports this, citing its sources.
According to the agency's interlocutors, sanctions may also be imposed on an insurance company that works with ships that are laying pipes in the Baltic Sea. Other companies that provide services and materials for the construction of the pipeline may also be included in the "black list".
Recall that in connection with the sanctions of Washington against the companies involved in the construction, the laying of the gas pipeline was suspended in December 2019. Under pressure from the United States, many European participants withdrew from the project, and a number of companies announced the completion of financing for Nord Stream 2, which made the volume of funds invested in the project less than expected.
In February, the German insurer Munich RE Syndicate refused to work with SP - 2. The company fears the imposition of US sanctions against the company. Before that, the Swiss insurance company Zurich Insurance Group also refused to cooperate with Nord Stream 2.
Initially, it was assumed that the gas pipeline, through which Russian gas should flow to the main European consumers, bypassing Ukraine and other transit countries, will be put into operation at the end of 2019. According to the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Igor Anansky, the project for the construction of Nord Stream 2 will still be completed.
