The wanted Ufa businessman Andrey Smyshlyayev was found in Italy. He is accused of deliberately bankrupting his company. Now he has been handed over to Russian law enforcement agencies for return to the Russian Federation.

"Andrey Smyshlyayev was extradited from Italy, accompanied by employees of the National Central Bureau of Interpol of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation. He is accused of deliberate bankruptcy and fraud with non-fulfillment of contractual obligations", - said the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Irina Volk.

According to the investigation, in 2014-2016, the accused entered into an agreement on the purchase of tires for 900 million rubles, received the goods, but did not transfer the money to the seller for it. In 2015, his other company did the same, concluding an agreement for 2.8 billion rubles, but not fulfilling it. In 2016, the company went bankrupt.

The Ufa police opened two cases under article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud) and 196 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (deliberate bankruptcy). Smyshlyayev was charged in absentia. In 2019, he was put on the international wanted list.

Earlier on Monday, it became known that Yuri Shulgin, the former general director of the Mezhregionsoyuzenergo group of companies, who was put on the wanted list, was accidentally filmed by the camera of Channel One in London, filming passers-by. It is being held by the accused in the case of the withdrawal of 10 billion rubles abroad. This money was supposed to go to pay for electricity.
