"PFC CSKA and Ivica Olic have reached an agreement on the appointment of a Croatian specialist to the post of head coach. Ivica will start work today, on March 23 - he will be introduced to the team, and he will hold his first training session", - said the press service of FC CSKA.
As a member of the Moscow Central Army Sports Club (CSKA), Ivica Olic played in the period from 2003 to 2006. For CSKA, he played 116 matches, on his account 44 goals scored.
Since 2017, Olic has coached the Croatian national team. At the 2018 World Cup, the team reached the final, losing 2-4 to the French national team.
It's worth to note that former CSKA midfielder Dmitry Kuznetsov criticized the decision to appoint Olic to the post of head coach of the Moscow team.
"I catch myself thinking that CSKA may be left without European cups this year. Olic will come with new requirements and tactics. Until they understand the requirements, time is running out, and CSKA should at least get into the LE. Maybe one or two games will be a splash, emotions. And then failure is possible", - said Kuznetsov in an interview with "Championship".
