The former militant who participated in the attack on the Pskov paratroopers in Chechnya in 2000, which killed 84 soldiers, was detained in Moscow by FSB officers.

"An irrefutable evidence base has been formed for the participation in this crime of a native of the Chechen Republic Arbinin German, who did not incur criminal punishment for this... Arbinin was detained in Moscow", - the FSB reported.

The detainee will be charged under three criminal articles: banditry, armed rebellion and encroachment on law enforcement officers.

The official representative of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Svetlana Petrenko said that Arbinin was one of the members of Shamil Basayev's gang, he was detained last Tuesday.

Investigators will insist on his imprisonment in a pre-trial detention center.

In April 2019, a sentence was passed to Shamil Kubatov, another participant in the attack on the sixth company of paratroopers in Chechnya in 2000. He was sentenced to 16 years of strict regime.

It's worth reminding that in 2000, near the village of Ulus-Kert, Shatoy District of Chechnya, a gang led by Basayev and Khattab attacked servicemen of the 6th company of the 104th regiment of the 76th Pskov division of the Airborne Forces. The paratroopers fought to the last bullet. 2,500 terrorists came out against them. As a result, the entire company was killed - 84 servicemen, four were injured.
