Financial analysts named the regions of the Russian Federation with the most unprofitable business

According to experts from the audit and consulting network FinExpertiza, in 2020, almost a third of Russian medium and large companies recorded losses. The enterprises of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Magadan Oblast, the Amur Oblast, Chuvashia, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Tatarstan, Ingushetia, Khakassia and Moscow have especially gone into negative territory.

“The leaders in terms of the absolute size of financial losses were enterprises in Moscow, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan and the Krasnoyarsk Territory - these regions accounted for two thirds of all losses of Russian business”, - analysts say.

In 62 of 85 Russian regions, commercial enterprises have increased their losses and only in 23 regions have reduced them. The total amount of losses of medium and large businesses in the country reached 5.34 trillion rubles. Compared to 2019, it has grown by 2.3 times. But in some constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the growth of losses reached 63 times. The rating of unprofitable analysts did not include small businesses, banks, insurance companies and government agencies. Less them, 29.4% of Russian enterprises ended 2020 with losses.

“The worst dynamics was observed in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug - medium and large enterprises based in the region increased their losses by 62.5 times compared to the previous year, to 529.2 billion rubles. - the most significant negative contribution was made by the oil industry, which experienced the strongest shock in 2020 due to the crisis in the fuel markets”, - the researchers note.

Next in the anti-rating comes the Magadan Region, whose enterprises increased their losses 16.8 times, to 17.8 billion rubles. This is primarily due to the reduction in the profitability of mining. In third place from the end is the Amur Region, where losses increased 13.6 times, to 86.8 billion rubles. On the fourth - Chuvashia, where total losses increased 6.4 times, to 49.2 billion rubles, on the fifth - the Krasnoyarsk Territory, which showed an increase in losses 6.3 times, to 242.2 billion rubles, due to - and gas supply.

Closing the top ten regions with the maximum growth in business losses, the "foremost lockdown" Moscow, whose enterprises increased their financial losses by 4.66 times, to 2.2 trillion rubles. The largest losses were shown by trade enterprises, which lost up to 1 trillion rubles, as well as businesses in the field of transportation, storage and processing industries, which were seriously affected by strict quarantine measures.
