Experts are skeptical about the prospects for Russia's participation in the climate warming summit.

Recently, Novye Izvestia has already written that relations between the United States and Russia may well go well if the countries begin cooperation in the field of ecology. No wonder Joe Biden invited Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping to the climate summit. Large-scale high-level talks are scheduled for the end of April. An invitation from US President Biden to Russian President Putin to take part in the climate summit will be considered in due course, the Kremlin considers the topic to be very important, said Putin's press secretary Peskov.

“It will be considered in the appropriate order. This topic is very important, of course, and if it has already been received through the official channels, then it will be considered in the appropriate order”, - Peskov said, answering a question from journalists whether Putin would accept an invitation from Biden if received.

The White House previously confirmed that Biden had invited Putin among 40 world leaders to the April 22-23 climate talks, the meeting will be held online, RIA Novosti reported.

Commentator "Kommersant" Dmitry Drize quite skeptical spoke about the potential of Putin's participation in the global climate summit:

“It's clear that it's not about the climate. Any large international event is an occasion to find common ground and establish contact with partners. Moreover, against the background of the confrontation of recent days, Anatoly Chubais, the newly appointed Special Representative for Relations with International Organizations, has probably spent quite a bit without work.

But with all this, why should Russia participate in all this? This is just one of the few areas where it is logical to go your own way. Moreover, there may be such a critic who will say: they just want to "put up for money".

What a strange story, after all: where you really need to cooperate, we have a special path, but frankly ambiguous projects - please..."

For his part, an expert from the Secret Chancellery channel found Anatoly Chubais really a very suitable figure to participate in the climate summit:

“It can become a kind of bridge in the scenario for the implementation of the thesis“ to prevent the degradation of Russian-American relations”, by trying to start a behind-the-scenes dialogue with the US Democratic Party, and the forum will serve as a platform for that. You shouldn't expect any significant progress, but as a tactical move it may well come in handy.

On the other hand, the climate forum is associated with the main trend of recent times - the West is actively introducing an environmental agenda. And it is expected that ecology will become one of the reasons for the creation and promotion of protest activities in Russia. The environmental problem in many regions is very acute, and participation in the summit will contribute to the interception of this agenda from external actors inside Russia. This will show that the Kremlin is interested in solving environmental problems and even participates in international discussions on this topic, despite the fact that the West is constantly exacerbating the situation and conducting harsh anti-Russian rhetoric, passing on to individuals, in particular, the President of the Russian Federation. "

But network analyst Anatoly Nesmiyan is sure that Russian citizens will have to pay for the new environmental policy of the West:

“Biden invited Putin and Xi Jinping to an online environmental summit in late April. In any case, this is what Russian propaganda gave the information, focusing on these two invitees.

In reality, 40 countries should take part in the summit. In general, the list was formed on the basis of its place in the world industrial production, and if China is clearly in place here, then one can be proud of the fact of inviting Russia - we are still on the list.

The vastness of the list of invitees suggests that nothing concrete will be decided. With such a large camp, one can agree on only one thing - to create a working expert group, which will prepare documents for the next kurultai. Which, too, will not decide anything, but will simply sign what will be adopted at the working group. And this is where the most important things will happen, which, of course, will be mostly non-public.

In fact, Biden proposed to create a new Paris Agreement. But taking into account the identified shortcomings and problems that surfaced during the implementation of this agreement. With a wider set of obligations and tighter control instruments. And the responsibility for compliance.

A future agreement will govern the transition to green energy. It should be understood that a few countries are ready to move to it, since both the energy industry itself and the process of transition to it are costly. And therefore, under the beautiful words about "decarbonization", the new agreement will, in fact, spell out the responsibilities and burdens of countries that will not switch to carbon-free energy simply because of their savagery and backwardness. Like Russia.

When our propaganda, choking on all physiological fluids, says that “new energy” is terribly expensive and unprofitable, it prudently turns a blind eye to the fact that everyone else will pay for the losses of “green energy”. Do you want to sell gas to Europe? Pay special tax. This tax will be a compensatory resource that will allow the European "green energy" to exist quite smoothly. That is, the Europeans will benefit from it, and the same Russian pensioner will pay for this whole holiday of life.

This is the essence of all environmental summits - who pays for everything. Those who have lagged behind and are not able to switch to the new energy will pay. The West has no complaints about them. For heaven's sake, burn coal, gas and oil. But now you have to pay for it. And not to someone abstract, but to us. It is clear why propaganda prefers to skip this nuance.

It is impossible to refuse such a tempting offer, since raw gas stations like us are critically dependent on trade with developed countries. There you will also have to pay the "green" tax and other environmental fees. In fact, the "green" summit is an ultimatum put forward by developed countries to everyone else.

And the fact that everyone was invited to the same table is a ritual..."
