According to Kommersant, the matter concerns 35-year-old Marat Mukhametshin (pictured).
The case against him was initiated last August. The grounds for initiating a case were the materials of the regional department of the FSB. According to them, the suspect shares the ideology of the Islamic State terrorist organization banned on the territory of the Russian Federation.
From January 2016 to May 2017, he conducted classes with like-minded people at his home in Krasnoyarsk. Investigators believe he convinced two fellow believers to support the terrorists. They had to post and comment on social media that justified terrorism.
In September 2019, both were convicted of publicly calling for and acquitting terrorism. They are currently serving their sentences in a colony. The Investigative Committee clarified that the imam's relatives were unaware of his views and thought that he was holding meetings on religious topics.
In addition, Mukhametshin is accused of sexual harassment. It is about the inclination to an intimate relationship of a 24-year-old woman. He blackmailed his victim by threatening to spread compromising evidence about her private life. However, he failed to achieve intimacy.
According to the participants in the investigation, the victim was not a follower of Islam.
The arrested person agreed with the charge.
