Georgian protesters forced Vladimir Pozner to leave Tbilisi

Residents of Tbilisi in protest threw eggs at the facade of the hotel where Russian TV presenter Vladimir Pozner was staying and forced him to leave Georgia. Pozner said earlier that Abkhazia would never be part of Georgia.

The protests in Georgia began after television journalist Vladimir Pozner arrived in the country on March 31 to celebrate his 87th birthday in Tbilisi with a group of friends. However, the negative-minded residents of the Georgian capital staged a "shelling" with raw eggs on the facade of the hotel, where Pozner and his companions were staying. In addition, on the asphalt at the entrance to the hotel, the protesters wrote in red paint: "Get out of Georgia".

"The protesters claim that since Pozner does not recognize the territorial integrity of the country, his presence is unacceptable", - RIA Novosti reported.

Pozner told reporters that he planned to stay in Tbilisi until April 3, but the trip had to be interrupted.

Pozner left Georgia accompanied by a police cordon. On their way to Tbilisi International Airport, Pozner and his company were accompanied by protesters. The protesters dispersed only after they were convinced that Pozner had left the country.

The aggression of the residents of the Georgian capital against Pozner was caused by his attitude to Russia's recognition of the sovereignty of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Pozner said that Abkhazia will never be part of Georgia. However, official Tbilisi called both republics "occupied territories" after the Russian Federation after the war in August 2008 recognized their independence.
