Retail chains complained about refusal of factories to supply sugar at fixed prices

For a week now, retail chains have been unable to buy sugar from suppliers - producers and distributors simply refuse to supply it at fixed prices. The supplies were suspended after the authorities promised the factories subsidies effective April 1 to supply sugar at a low price.

Thus, factories will be able to receive five rubles for each kilogram of sugar, which will be sold to retail chains at a fixed price of 36 rubles per kilogram. As a source familiar with the situation commented to Izvestia , after the proposal was announced, it simply became unprofitable for the factories to sell their products online at low prices until April 1. A second source also confirmed that retail chains in distribution centers are running out of sugar stocks.

It's worth reminding that from January to November last year, the price of sugar increased by 71.5% . Manufacturers warned about the problem in the summer. Last year there was a poor harvest of sugar beet. The government has worried about the rise in prices for sugar and some other foodstuffs. Since December, maximum wholesale prices were introduced at which sugar could be sold. This is no more than 36 rubles per kilogram in purchases for retail chains and stores and no more than 45 rubles on the shelf for consumers. The agreement was valid until the end of March. From April 1, it was also proposed to extend it for another three months.
