State Duma offer to imprison debt collectors for 12 years for their illegal activities

State Duma deputies propose to increase the responsibility of collectors for their illegal activities. For wheedle debts out using the illegal methods, it is proposed to introduce up to 12 years in prison.

Changes are proposed to be made to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Articles 150 and 151 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation.

"The bill proposes to introduce increased responsibility for illegal activities to recover overdue debts of individuals", - writes Izvestia.

The illegal activities of collectors include threats, the use of violence, the destruction or damage of property, the dissemination of deliberately false information that discredits the honor and dignity of an individual.

So, it is proposed to increase the amount of the fine to 500 thousand rubles. The culprit is facing forced labor for up to five years or imprisonment for up to five years. If the knocking-out of debts is organized by a group of persons, then for such a violation everyone faces up to 12 years.

The amendments were initiated by deputies Vasily Piskarev, Nikolay Ryzhak and Ernest Valeyev. As the newspaper notes, the bill will be considered in the State Duma already in the spring session. Earlier, all factions supported the tightening of liability under these articles. The government wrote a positive review.
