The decision to represent Russia by singer Manizha immediately angered a number of nationalist bloggers. At the same time, the singer of the song "Russian Woman", with which she will represent Russia at Eurovision this year, became the most popular on the official Youtube channel of the competition, RIA Novosti agency notes.
As reported by the TASS agency, Moscow investigators of the Investigative Committee (IC) began checking the song "Russian Woman" after the appeal of ANO "Veteranskie Vesti". According to an informed source, the result of the check may be either the initiation of a criminal case or a refusal to do so.
Representatives of the ANO Veteranskie Vesti addressed directly to the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, with a request to initiate a criminal case against Manizha for extremism and to stop the distribution of the video of her speech. They believe that such a stage performance is aimed "at gross insult and humiliation of the human dignity of Russian women on the basis of their attitude to nationality".
Manija Sangin is a freelance musician, author and performer, music video director, philanthropist and community leader in the fight against domestic violence. According to her, "Russian Woman" is a song about the changes in the self-awareness of a Russian woman over the past several hundred years.
In mid-March, she posted in your Youtube channel a humorous video entitled "Could this represent Russia at Eurovision?", where she turned to advantage the fact that she was condemned and became the object of openly xenophobic jokes.
