The accident left Sakhalin without power supply

The center and south of Sakhalin were left without electricity, in some settlements there were interruptions in water supply, traffic lights did not work, mobile Internet and payment systems were failing. The reason for this was an accident at the Yuzhno-Sakhalinskaya junction substation.
The shutdown of the bus system at the substation occurred today at 17:40 local time. This led to a partial restriction of the island's electricity supply. Some consumers received electricity again within ten minutes. However, work is still underway to restore the normal operation of the power system.
Note that there is no unified energy system on Sakhalin and the Kuriles. Each of the islands feeds on its own sources. There are four power plants operating in Sakhalin.
