The magistrate of the Tagansky district of Moscow fined the social network TikTok 2.6 million rubles for the fact that it did not promptly remove calls for teenagers to go to unauthorized rallies in support of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

Prior to that, Twitter was also fined for similar offenses. The company received three fines for these offenses totaling 8.9 million rubles.

Recall that rallies in support of Navalny were held in January-February this year. The demonstrators first opposed the detention and arrest of the oppositionist, and then against his sentence. On February 2, the court changed Navalny's suspended sentence to a real one in the Yves Rocher case. The oppositionist will have to spend another 2.5 years behind bars.

On Monday, Roskomnadzor also threatened social networks with blocking if they do not remove prohibited content within 24 hours, as required by law. In particular, the supervisory authority gave Twitter time until May 15 so that the social network could remove all inappropriate messages. Until that time, the traffic of the social network will be slowed down.
